Engineering Calculators

🚀 New Features

  • 🚧 NEW CALCULATOR COMING SOON Wind Loads – MWFRS (NBCC 2020) 🇨🇦: New beta calculator for low-rise MWFRS pressures using the NBCC 2020 static procedure. Outputs external pressure coefficients per Table 4.1.7.6, internal pressures, and net zone pressures for Load Cases A and B at ULS and SLS. Canadian project defaults now reference velocity pressure q_50.
  • Wind Loads (NBCC 2020) 🇨🇦: Added topographic factor, exposure factor, and gust factor inputs and calculations.
  • Cold-Formed Steel Beam (AS 4600-2018) 🇦🇺: Added 19 HST purlin sections (Profiles II and III) from Steel & Tube Ltd to the shared section library, including buckling capacities and non-standard lipped C draw-table coordinates.

🛠️ Improvements & Fixes

  • Steel Base Plate (ACI 318-19 & AISC 360-22) 🇺🇸: Elevation diagram now renders a correct WF outline in both X-axis and Y-axis views for wide-flange columns instead of a generic shape.
  • Steel Composite Beam (AISC 360-22) 🇺🇸: Fixed a crash when switching Slab Type to Concrete Slab so the Variable Stud Spacing default no longer references the Metal-Deck-only rib spacing widget.
  • Portal Frame Analysis, Truss Analysis, and Cross-Section Database 🇦🇺: Restored missing shared-table rebinds so HST purlin sections from Steel & Tube Ltd are selectable again.
  • Timber Selector Table 🇦🇺: Corrected “Harwood” to “Hardwood” for 18 Tilling Timber GluLam rows across 10 calculators.

Atlas Tube Connection Hub

🚀 New Features

  • Round HSS Transverse Plate (AISC 360-22) 🇺🇸: New calculator covering T- and X-connection inputs, plate properties, applied loads, HSS section properties, and limits of applicability per AISC 360-22 Table K2.1A.
  • HSS Steel Base Plate (AISC 360-22) 🇺🇸: Beta expansion adds rectangular anchor grid layouts, concrete pier depth, net uplift and combined tension-and-shear checks for anchor rods and base plate, fillet weld checks along HSS flats, optional shear redistribution between anchor rows, and dynamic Atlas plan and elevation diagrams. Also corrects pre-existing bugs in parallel shear breakout, breakout areas, the ACI cap, and uplift bearing branches.
  • Transverse Plate to HSS Connection (AISC 360-22) 🇺🇸: Extended all limit-state checks — tension yielding, tensile rupture, slenderness, plate compression, and weld — to a second opposing plate for the Cross-connection type. Added a validation preset against AISC Design Guide 24 Example 8.2.
  • HSS Truss Connection (AISC 360-22) 🇺🇸: Added gapped round KT connection design to the General auto-classification path, decomposing the three-branch joint into K1/K2 sub-connections with vertical equilibrium checks per AISC Design Guide 24 Section 9.6.
  • Column Bracing Cast Connex (AISC 360-22) 🇺🇸: Added beta typed linking to HSS to WF Shear Connection for HSS beam and wide-flange column combinations.

🛠️ Improvements & Fixes

  • HSS Truss Connection (AISC 360-22) 🇺🇸: Corrected an over-conservative chord plastification moment capacity for STM connections under branch moment loading. A missing factor of 2 in Design Guide 24 Eq 2-6 was understating nominal moment capacity by roughly 40% in affected cases.
  • HSS Truss Connection (AISC 360-22 & CSA S16:19) 🇺🇸 🇨🇦: Fixed a Branch Width Ratio failure-message typo, clarified branch wall slenderness limit descriptions for tension versus compression, and fixed an “Overlap Rigth” diagram label typo.
  • Transverse Plate to HSS Connection (AISC 360-22) 🇺🇸: Fixed a garbled “Load Magnitudes” symbol in the chord axial load tables and corrected weld symbol arrow placement on the cross-connection diagram.
  • HSS Column Bracing (AISC 360-22) 🇺🇸: Fixed the Internal Double Gusset diagram so brace hidden lines render correctly where the brace passes behind the gusset plate, and added bolt group and brace labels across all presets. Corrected default member sizes for the Internal Double Gusset preset so the assembly fits within the workable flat.
  • HSS to HSS Splice Connection (AISC 360-22) 🇺🇸: Updated bolt grade labels to the ASTM F3125 designation, added prying action and slip resistance clarification notes for end-plate connections, and removed the beta shear note for square and rectangular end-plates.
  • HSS to HSS Splice Connection (CSA S16:19) 🇨🇦: Fixed the plate moment capacity for square column splices with a single bolt per horizontal row that previously failed to solve.
  • HSS to WF Shear Connection (AISC 360-22 & CSA S16:19) 🇺🇸 🇨🇦: Fixed BDA angle cross-section diagram dimension labels to match widget symbols.
  • Steel connection diagrams (WF to HSS Shear, WF to HSS Moment, HSS to HSS Moment — AISC 360-22 & CSA S16:19) 🇺🇸 🇨🇦: Corrected flare-bevel weld label notation per AWS A2.4 (rounded to 1/16”), fixed column face rendering from dashed to solid, and split In-Between angle conditions.
  • Concrete-Filled HSS Moment Connection (AISC 360-22) 🇺🇸: Removed a dead WT-section beam setback check that referenced an undefined widget.
  • ASTM grade labels across Column Bracing, HSS to WF Shear, HSS to HSS Shear, and WF to HSS Shear (AISC 360-22) 🇺🇸: Corrected dropdown display text to “ASTM A572 Grade 50” and “ASTM A36”.
  • Atlas Tube details library 🇨🇦: The Canadian tab now correctly shows HSS-1 through HSS-7 supplementary PDFs and country-specific full-set downloads. Previously the CA tab was empty and US displayed CA duplicates.

Platform Improvements

🚀 New Features

  • Faster in-sheet solving for two unknowns: Templates can now solve two linked unknowns (for example biaxial ICR problems) directly inside the sheet, so results come back faster and without needing an external solver.
  • Redesigned organisation analytics dashboard: The dashboard now loads reliably for large organisations and shows clear summary cards for Projects Created, Calculations Created, and PDF Exports. You can compare against the previous period, switch between day, week, and month views, and pick custom date ranges.

🛠️ Improvements & Fixes

  • Stronger Template API access controls: API keys can only access templates your organisation is licensed for. Requests for templates you don’t have access to now return a consistent “not found” response.
  • Billing page for trial and academic accounts: Trial, expired, and academic organisations can now view their plan status and upgrade directly through the pricing table, instead of hitting a “contact your account manager” dead end.
  • Section search accepts fractional sizes: You can now search for section sizes using fractional names like HSS10X10X1/4. Previously only the decimal format (HSS10X10X.250) worked.
  • Cleaner navigation for non-Builder organisations: The Builder tab in Projects and the Builder link in the sidebar are now hidden if your organisation doesn’t have Calcs Builder access.
  • Clearer AI chat responses: The AI chat now shows a “Working…” animation while the assistant is thinking, so short pauses no longer look like the chat has frozen.
