Engineering Calculators

🚀 New Features

  • Snow Loads (NBCC 2020) 🇨🇦: Introduced a full beta release covering balanced, unbalanced gable, partial, lower-roof drift (Cases I–III), sliding snow, projection, and valley loads per NBCC 2020 Cl. 4.1.6, with 12 validated CSSBI presets. The calculator also prevents you from mixing values from the wrong code edition.
  • Snow Loads (NBCC 2025) 🇨🇦: Introduced a new beta calculator derived from the NBCC 2020 version, adding a computed Exposure Factor from winter climate data (replacing lookup categories), Thermal Factor (Ct), Winter Wind Factor (Fws), updated valley peak logic, and revised drift accumulation, with five validated presets.
  • Seismic Analysis (NBCC 2020) 🇨🇦: Added the Design Base Shear section per NBCC 2020 Sentence 4.1.8.11.(2), including seismic weight, higher-mode factor (Mv), calculated/min/max base shear, and Type 6 amplification. Scope notes are now grouped together for easier reading, and a shared SFRS lookup table (NBCC 2020 Table 4.1.8.9) provides R_d, R_o, and height limits for each seismic category.
  • Wind Loads (ASCE 7-22) and Wind Loads (ASCE 7-16) 🇺🇸: Added Open enclosure classification with net pressure coefficient (CN) tables for gable and monoslope free roofs, dedicated wind pressure tables, and minimum load notes for both MWFRS Directional and C&C.
  • Wind Loads (ASCE 7-22) 🇺🇸: Added the internal pressure reduction factor (Ri) for large, unpartitioned partially enclosed buildings.
  • 🚧 COMING SOON Cold-Formed Steel Stud / Column (AISI) 🇺🇸: Started adding lateral load support to the calculator. This first step introduces distributed lateral load inputs, wind and seismic tributary width and pressure helpers, and shear, moment, and deflection diagrams. The concentrated load table now also accepts lateral (Px) and moment (M) inputs at any height along the member.

🛠️ Improvements & Fixes

  • Snow Loads (NBCC 2020) 🇨🇦: Corrected the reduced parapet height in multi-level roof drift so it never goes below zero (matching code); drift accumulation factors and peak pressures reduce slightly on affected rows. Summary tables were split into Case I and Case II/III for a one-page fit.
  • Project Defaults (Canada) 🇨🇦: Added Winter Average Temperature and Winter Average Wind Speed inputs (visible when NBCC 2025 is selected), fixed a bug where site parameter values (snow, rain, wind, exposure) were not exporting to linked calculators, renamed the section to “Site Parameters – Wind & Snow”, and added a visible note clarifying 1-in-1000 vs 1-in-50 values for NBCC 2025.

Calcs Builder

🛠️ Improvements & Fixes

  • Calcs Builder Debug Panel: You can now filter, sort, and search the alerts list to find issues faster. The panel also catches broken equation and visibility references before you run a preview, shows clearer messages when units don’t match, and clears old alerts when you switch templates.

Platform Improvements

🛠️ Improvements & Fixes

  • API PDF Export: PDF exports through the API are now more reliable. If you try to export sheets that aren’t part of your project, you’ll get a clear error telling you which ones are the problem, instead of ending up with a blank or incomplete PDF. The download link is also only shared once your export is fully ready, so there are no more broken links while it’s still processing.
