# Understand How Calcs.com Works

> How Does Calcs.com Work?

Calcs.com is built on the principle that math is easier to maintain and check than code. Built on a robust math engine, every engineering calculation in the system is entered as math, not code. This means we can display the math in formatted formulas, but more importantly, that the math you're seeing is exactly what's happening. There's no hidden code in the background - if it looks wrong, it is wrong. This means you can spend less time worrying about where numbers are coming from and instead quickly produce designs you can easily check and trust.
